The quaint, historic, small town of Jacksonville is about 5 miles west of Medford. It was named for Jackson Creek, which runs through the community and was the site of one of the first placer gold claims in the area. Boutique and antique shops line Main Street.
Named "One of America's Top 10 Coolest Small Towns" by Frommers, Jacksonville boasts numerous hiking trails and a culture that appreciates good food and wine. There are many fine and casual dining options, along with the picturesque Applegate Wine Trail's dense population of family-run wineries.
